ate: 31-JUL-1996 12:26:26.63 From: ROCK::MUELLER "Rob {x6160} If it ain't broke, I ain't worked on it yet. 31-Jul-1996 1209" Subj: Pig Roast '96 (message #2) To: @pig96 Postpone [as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary]: 1. to delay until a future time; put off. 2. to place after in importance; subordinate. Two different definitions, indeed, but they both have significance to Pig Roast '96. What significance, you might ask? Well, let me tell you. Due to unforseen circumstances we'll be postponing Pig Roast '96 until a later date [you'll have to read on to find out when the new Pig Roast '96 will be ... well sort of]. Now, you're probably asking yourself, what could definition #2 possibly have to do with Pig Roast '96. Before I explain, I must first ellaborate on the reason behind the postponement. You see, many moons ago, there were these people ... most of whom worked for Digital Equipment Corp. Now, I'm not exactly sure how far back the Pig Roast tradition goes, but these people were a large part of organizing and keeping up the tradition when I came along. Many of these people, you see, were also part of a cult. A cult, you say! Ohhh, that's BAD! Well, this cult has been around for some years now, and it's active participants are complete fanatics ... not quite as rowdy as the PTL, and more fun than the L. Ron Hubbard gang. They will do anytihing, short of slaughtering defenseless animals, to promote their way of life ... travelling great distances and risking bodily harm to show people that theirs is the path to righteousness (did I spell that right?). Well, you're all probably asking, what could this religeon be? When will they be going door to door in my neighborhood? How can I defend myself? How can they be stopped? The answers are: (1) Ultimate disk players. (2) Any time now. (3) Run! (4) They can't! There is no known way to stop them. I seem to have digressed from the basic point. I was trying to explain how definition #2 applies to Pig Roast '96. Well, we're postponing Pig Roast '96 because 17-Aug-96 conflicts with the Corporate Ultimate Tournament Weekend [those fanatics consider this to be of greater importance, but I disagree]. Anyway, time is running short, and I'm getting tired of writing, so here are the new potential dates for Pig Roast '96 [we havn't completeley decided which date is better, but we still have some time to decide]: Saturday, 7-September-1996 Saturday, 21-September-1996 We do hope to see you there, The Pig Roast '96 comittee: ROCK::MUELLER !Rob Mueller FUNIES::DIGIROLAMO !Sharon Digirolamo AD::STAYLOR !Scott Taylor NPSS::BENZ !Chuck Benz rock::carlson !David Carlson rock::jellis !Jim Ellis ad::holub !Chris Holub rock::lilly !Brian Lilly BINKLY::BEMOORE !Brock Moore CRL::"mag@ebt.com" !Michael Galvin CRL::"lew.lahr@analog.com" !Lew Lahr ##################################### Standard Disclaimer: If you're sitting there, asking yourself, who the heck is sending me this stupid mail about some stupid party that I wouldn't be caught dead at, well, just ask around ... I'm sure someone you work with has attended a Pig Roast in the past. They'll tell you how much fun it is and how you should NOT miss it for anything in the world. This is a family event, so those of you with children (any age), need not dismiss this party right from the start. If you *STILL* don't care about our Pig Roast, and want to be removed from this distributioin list, please just reply to me and let me know. I appologize to those who's time I have wasted. This function is NOT sanctioned by Digital Equipment Corporation, it's affiliates, lawyers, doctors, sales persons, bankers, engineers, vice presidents, president, CEO, board of directors, or the Digital Credit Union in any way. Any resemplance to past Pig Roasts is absolutely intentional (hey, they were a lot of fun, right?) and not at all fictional. See your dealer for details. Your mileage may vary. Offer good while supplies last. I did not, intentionally, leave anyone off the master distribution list. I appologize to those that were omitted. If you know of anyone to be added, please have them send me email at ROCK::MUELLER or mueller@rock.enet.dec.com. For those of you who have not been to a Pig Roast in the past, and want to learn more, check out the Pig Roast '94 home page: http://segflt.hlo.dec.com/~mueller/pig/pigroast_94.html [Sorry, this is internal to Digital Only!] This page contains a post mortem of Pig Roast '94 as well as some interesting facts like: 160 lbs [minus head, bones, fat, etc ...] of Pig were consumed in about 1.5 hours. It took over 18 hours and about 3/4 cord of wood to cook the Pig. The Pig Roast '96 Home Page is coming soon!
